Solar Rebates

Ipswich Electric Light Department (IELD) offers solar rebates of $0.30/watt, capped $3,000 with the following limitations:

  • System size limited to 10kW (DC) for residential customers and 25 kW (DC) for commercial customers
  • Each array can have no more than 20% reduction in output due to shading
  • Each array must have an azimuth between 90 (east) and 270 (west) degrees. Other restrictions may apply. Application requires a signed participant’s agreement.
    • As mentioned in the Participant’s Agreement, IELD shall have title to the customer’s solar system’s non-energy attributes and the associated Massachusetts Renewable Portfolio Standard Class I Renewable Energy Certificates (RPS Class I RECs).

Complete the rebate form and attach the following documentation:

  • Proof of property ownership (i.e. deed, estate tax bill)
  • Shade report
  • Homeowner and solar contractor installation contract
  • Signed Solar Rebate Participant’s Agreement
  • Signed IELD Interconnection Agreement

Applications will be reviewed within 10 business days. If approved, an initial rebate approval letter will be emailed to the customer with a blank Project Completion form.

Once the project is complete and the homeowner has received the Permission to Operate from the IELD, the homeowner and the primary installer must complete the Project Completion form and, if necessary, the Project Change Request form, and email these forms and a copy of your permission to operate to help@nextzero.org as well as any other documents that may be required (e.g. proof of compliance with shade tree removal requirements).

The Program Administrator (MMWEC) and IELD will strive to complete the issuance of a final rebate within 60 days of receiving a complete Project Completion form, Change Request form (if necessary), or permission to operate issued by IELD.
